Author: Dave Brouillette (page 2 of 6)

Ep. 41: Rabbit Trails

Hello again! This week Dave an Carol dive into what’s wrong with the LA Galaxy. Also, does Giovinco’s tantrum at being subbed mean anything? And finally, the Minnesota broadcast team features Kendra de St Aubin, who you might notice is a woman. Dave and Carol both have some feels about the number of women involved in the game. Enjoy!

And for some extra’s, here’s some of the things we mentioned in the show:

Giovinco being subbed off:

Dave mentioned the “Platatrum.” What was that?

Here’s the best picture we could find of Quincy Amerikwa’s pouty face:

Here’s Bastian Schweinsteiger cheerfully taking a photo of a Fire fan with other Fire players:

And finally, the article about Dax McCarty’s return to New York:

Ep 40: Get it Right

Hello everybody! This week we’re joined by a new guest, our good friend David. In lieu of having a coherent conversation on a pointed subject, we just rambled into the mics for about forty minutes. Then Carol finally put us back on track to talk about the new environmentally friendly jerseys worn this week by four MLS teams. Was it a gimmick, or a real step taken to help our oceans? Enjoy!

Here are the kits Seattle and LA wore this week:

And here are the ones New York and Orlando wore:

For comparison, here are the kits that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich wore last year:

And finally, here’s the article Dave mentioned about the MLS salary cap being a salary budget:

Ep 39: The Tri-Wizard World Cup Bid

Hey guys! We got the band back together! Carol makes her triumphant return to the… airwaves? Internetwaves? The show. We sat down to tell about our experience meeting Alexi Lalas. Then we took a look at the US-Canada-Mexico World Cup Bid. Finally, we did a deep dive into the new bargaining agreement between US Soccer and the women’s players. Enjoy!

Ep. 38: His Name Could Beat Me Up

We’re here, with guests!!! Carol was still on her road trip so Dave sat down with friends of the show Mike and Tyson to discuss the state of the league, the addition of Schweinsteiger, and just where the Sounders are at so far this season. Also, Mike had some things to say about our opinion on away supporter security. Here we are with Episode 38!

Here’s the Nutmeg News articles mentioned:

Ep. 37: All By Myself

Hey all! So we unfortunately missed last week because of scheduling issues. This week, we had some more, but decided that two weeks is far too long to make you wait for another show. There’s soccer to talk about, dammit! So this week, Dave awkwardly sat down alone in front of the mic to talk to you about the goings on of the league and the national team. Give him some feedback on what you thought! Hope you enjoy!

Ep 36: Tweeting on the Square

The season is in full swing, and we’re here to discuss it. ¬†First off, is there any hope in Minnesota? ¬†Just how bad of a start is this for them? ¬†Plus, twitter battles between teams and players: ¬†are they a good thing for the league? ¬†As we head into some World Cup Qualifiers, what’s the state of the national team? ¬†And what does it mean that Bruce Arena called up Dempsey? ¬†And finally, do the referees have the right points of emphasis this season? ¬†All this and more in Episode 36.

Of course we have to include the brilliant meme put together by the LA Galaxy:

Ep 35: Let’s Lose Some Listeners!

Hey guys! ¬†Things have been going pretty well her over¬†the last couple weeks. ¬† We’ve had a ton of great interactions with you listeners, and so we decided what better time to bring up politics! ¬†Dave was unfortunately sick and lacking a voice, so Carol was joined by friend of the show Matt to discuss the rough starts for two expansion teams and some bad fan behavior. ¬†Then they talk about the new US Soccer policy regarding standing for the National Anthem, and Alexi Lalas’ reaction to it. ¬†It’s a bit of an emotionally charged show. ¬†Hope you like it.

Ep 34: Quest for the West

Anyone notice last episode we only talked about half the league? ¬† Well that won’t do. ¬†Here’s the other half, it’s our breakdown of the Western Conference! ¬†Dave and Carol give their thoughts on every team in the west, then finish up with some season predictions. ¬†I know it’s early, but here’s a chance to grab a cup of coffee, and get caught up on Dave and Carol’s thoughts before diving into all the games today. ¬†Let’s get this season started!

Ep 33: The Beasts of the East

Wait a sec, didn’t we just release one of these a couple days ago? ¬†That’s right, we’re back again! ¬†Preseason is almost over, and it we’re ready to kick-off the new season with our Eastern Conference preview. ¬†Dave and Carol break down every Eastern Conference team, including a look at their preseason, what their offseason moves look like, and what to expect this week. ¬†Plus, some listener questions and comments.

Ep 32: The Five Teams in California

Hey, we’re just a week away from kick-off of the 2017 season, which means we’re officially declaring this the season 1 finale! ¬†This week Dave and Carol discuss expansion. ¬†Twelve cities submitted bids to become home to the next MLS franchise. ¬†We tackle the conundrum facing the league right now. ¬†What does a bid need to be appealing? ¬†What is MLS looking for in a potential ownership group? ¬†Of these twelve cities, which ones have the strongest bid? ¬†All this and more on Episodes 32!
